Leadership is most consequential — and most difficult — when conditions are hardest. When the stakes are high, the situation is complex, and the team is looking for direction, the quality of leadership determines everything. This block develops the practical and psychological capacity to lead effectively under exactly those conditions: to motivate and mobilise a team, maintain cohesion under stress, and make sound decisions when the margin for error is small.
The block draws on frameworks from organisational psychology, behavioural decision theory, and the study of high-performance teams to build skills that are immediately applicable in professional and institutional settings.
Topics include: the characteristics of effective leadership and teamwork; motivation for achieving success and managing the fear of failure; strategies for group interaction and productive collaboration; mobilising, communicating, and organising under pressure; and leading in challenging and competitive conditions.
Learning environment: The session takes place in a sufficiently large room with chairs arranged in a circle. Tables are not used: they create distance and inhibit the quality of interaction that makes the learning real. Video recording is not permitted, as it affects both confidentiality and the natural dynamics of group interaction. Photography is welcome before or after the workshop.
Timeframe: 4 hours with a 15-minute break.
Optimal group size: from 12 to 30 participants.
